Meridian & Ada County, Idaho

Meridian's mobile notary comes to you.

I live here too. You shouldn't have to drive across town to sign three pages.

I'm Jim Allen and I live in Meridian. I bring the notary to your kitchen table, your builder's design center, or your parent's room at a care facility — and I handle the apostille and FD-258 fingerprinting nobody else wants to explain to you. Most days I can be there within a couple of hours.

Why people call me instead

Three things a Meridian mobile notary should get right

Anybody can stamp a page. What you're really paying for is your afternoon back and paperwork that doesn't bounce.

You keep your whole afternoon

No taking half a day off. No driving to the bank and getting turned away because their notary went to lunch. You tell me where you'll be and when, and I show up there — the kitchen table, the office, the nursing home, or your driveway if that's easier.

Most Meridian appointments booked same day.

It goes through the first time

Rejected fingerprints, a missing initial, a will signed without the right witnesses — every one of those costs you weeks. I check the whole package before I leave, roll prints that get accepted, and tell you straight if something's wrong instead of stamping it and driving off.

Wills, trusts, POAs and loan packages checked page by page.

You stop guessing what's next

Most people who call me about an apostille have no idea whether they need state or federal, or what has to be notarized first. That's normal — it's a confusing process. I'll tell you the order it goes in, what it costs, and roughly how long it takes before you pay me a dime.

Plain-English answers, no runaround.

My promise to you

If it isn't right, you don't pay for it.

I've done this 3,500 times. I'd rather eat a trip than have you stuck with paperwork that doesn't work.

  • The price I quote is the price you pay No fuel surcharge, no per-page surprise, no “extra document” fee once I'm sitting at your table.
  • You get me. Not a call center Every call, text and appointment is Jim. Nobody's routing you to a stranger who doesn't know your file.
  • If my notarization gets rejected because of my error, I fix it free Wrong wording, missing seal, bad certificate — if the mistake is mine, I come back and redo it at no charge.
  • I'll help you line up your witnesses Wills and trusts need them, and most people can't find two. That's my problem to solve, not yours.

Meridian notary questions I get every week

Do you really come to my house in Meridian?

Yes — that's the entire business, and I live here, so it's usually a short drive. Homes, offices, care facilities, coffee shops and more than one car in a parking lot.

Anywhere in Ada or Canyon County the travel fee is a flat $95. There's no extra charge for the far end of Meridian, and no per-mile anything.

What does it cost?

Mobile notary work is $95 to come to you, plus $5 per notarized signature anywhere in Ada and Canyon County. Outside those two counties I'll quote you a flat number before I go.

An Idaho apostille is $185 for the first document and $75 for each additional document on the same order. Fingerprinting starts at $125 plus $10 per FD-258 card. A full California background check is $349 all-inclusive for one applicant, and $299 for everyone after the first in a group. You'll know your number before I get in the truck.

My parents are updating their will and trust. Can you handle that?

This is probably the most common call I get in Meridian, and it's the one people are most nervous about. Yes — I'm a notary for estate planning documents and I run these signings constantly.

The part that trips families up is witnesses. A will usually needs two, and they can't be beneficiaries, which rules out most of the people sitting at the table. Tell me when you book and I'll line them up. I won't draft the documents or advise on what they should say — that's your attorney's job — but I'll make sure the signing itself is correct.

We're buying new construction. Can you notarize at the builder's office?

Yes, and I've done plenty of them. Design centers, sales trailers, title company branches around Eagle Road — wherever the paperwork is happening.

If your lender or title company is coordinating, have them call me directly and I'll work to their schedule. I scan documents back the same day when the file needs to fund.

Why not just use the bank or a UPS Store?

If a counter notary works for your situation, honestly, use one. Your bank is free if you're a customer and I'm not offended.

Where I earn the $95 is when the signer can't easily travel, when the deadline is tomorrow, when witnesses have to be arranged, or when the document simply has to be right the first time. Banks are open when you're at work, and they turn people away every day over expired ID, a document already signed, or a will they won't touch.

What do I need to have ready before you arrive?

The documents unsigned, valid unexpired photo ID for every signer, and a rough idea of whether witnesses are needed.

Don't sign anything ahead of time. It's the single most common reason a notarization can't go through, and it's also the easiest one to avoid.

How do I know you're legitimate?

I'm Jim Allen, I own Idaho Mobile Notary Signing Agent, LLC, I live in Meridian, I've been a commissioned Idaho notary public since 2018, and I'm bonded, insured and background screened.

You can verify my commission with the Idaho Secretary of State and I'll give you my number and expiration if you ask. Every call comes to my phone, not a dispatcher. And a rule worth keeping regardless of who you hire: don't mail original documents to somebody you've never spoken to.

Do I need a state apostille or a federal one?

Hardly anyone knows, and the two look identical from the outside. Documents issued in Idaho — birth certificates, marriage licences, anything I notarize — go through the Idaho Secretary of State. Documents issued by the federal government, like an FBI background check, go to the U.S. Department of State.

Pick wrong and you lose weeks plus the fee. Tell me what the document is and which country is asking for it, and I'll tell you which track it belongs on before you spend anything.

I'm licensed in California but live in Meridian. Can you do my fingerprints?

Yes, and it's the one that saves people the most grief. If you're licensed out of state, California usually tells you to travel there in person — or routes you to a mailed hard card that comes back rejected weeks later.

You don't need either. I capture your prints on my Live Scan system, then send them straight through to my California processor, who submits the background check. One appointment at your house, no flight to California.

How fast can you get here?

I live in Meridian, so usually within a couple of hours, and same day is normal. I take evening and weekend appointments because that's when most families can actually sit down together.
